HammondCare Greenwich Hospital maintains a long term, active research program, and hospital clinicians and staff are dedicated to maintaining the best possible standards of care. Palliative & Supportive Care staff speak regularly at national and international conferences, and maintain a dynamic research environment at the hospital.

The Appetite Study

This study aims to examine the effect of megestrol acetate, dexamethasone or placebo on appetite stimulation and quality of life enhancement for patients with advanced cancer who are experiencing a loss or appetite or anorexia.

Can Less Be Better Study

This study aims to compare whether people’s constipation symptoms are less intense when specific laxatives are prescribed based on simple investigations to define the underlying cause of constipation.

The Sleep Study

This study aims to determine the best time of day to give corticosteroids ( Dexamethasone) to minimise sleep disturbance.
