Our Lymphoedema Clinic therapists are registered health professionals and are recognised Medicare providers. We are able to partner with your local doctor in the provision of therapeutic services linked to your Complex Disease Management Plan.
What is Lymphoedema?
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition that requires careful management. It involves the accumulation of excess fluid within the body which often presents as swelling in a limb or limbs.
There are two types of lymphoedema. Primary lymphoedema is a less common form and is usually related to a genetic condition that affects the development of the lymphatic system. Secondary lymphoedema is more prevalent and can occur due to a person having a compromised lymphatic system. This may have been caused by trauma to the body from surgery, radiotherapy or cancer.
We provide treatment for patients with both primary and secondary lymphoedema at our Lymphoedema Clinic.
